Thread: Spec Sheets for motors and controllers

  1. Question Spec Sheets for motors and controllers

    I am looking for a detailed spec sheet regarding the motors and controller of the following kit. Specifically, how do the motors communicate with the controller. Do the motors have any feedback encoders? Also, can the controller communicate with another PLC via digital inputs? Also, are they any good controllers that I could use with these motors which communicate via ethernet ports?

    Thank you for your help.

    They are standard PWM servos.

    You would need to do serial-to-ethernet conversion or have a micro with a serial-port. The controller that is included is a serial to pwm micro.

    They're not "motors" per-se - they're servos. About 60 degree if memory servos, but 45 degree is guaranteed (varies a little from servo to servo) Servos have built-in encoders, you send them a pulse and they move a certain distance based on that pulse. That board appears to only do 0-255, whereas something like the SSC32 will control a 180 servo over 1800 steps (in theory, in a perfect servo), so the accuracy and repeatability is sacrificed

    Who needs a spec sheet when we have Adrenalynn!

    Indeed, unfortunately "AA" (Ask Adrenalynn) doesn't have the same ring to it as RTFM though..

    Rtfm||aa?
    Isn't RTFM reserved for husbands hooking up the surround sound wrong, or Dads putting together toys at Christmas, or bosses trying to us sophisticated equipment like staplers?

    Sorry for hijacking!
