Thanks for the compliments everybody. I remade my Arbotix mount about .800 wider to accommodate a pair of rollbars (3" long, plastic drawer pulls from Home Depot) to protect my MCU. I got the idea from DarkBack's Biayared-X. He told me he copied it from Tyberius. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, no? I also threw together a chest plate made of PET-G and colored with Sharpie markers. It's just temporary, as I haven't figured out the final location for the battery pack yet. Most likely it will go in the chest area. Hopefully, mailman brings my Xbees tomorrow!

Those draw pulls remind me of the "old fashioned" hot-swappable scuzzy drives of a couple of decades ago! Cool project mannyr7, looking forward to seeing how it progresses.

I'm still new to the modern Robotics scene (used to tinker back when the Amigas and Commodores were the most technologically advanced computers around), but I would fashion a clear cover over the electronics. I would be afraid on him falling back onto something (like a part of another robot) that is narrower that the gap between the drawer pulls that would either physically damage parts on the board or short something out. Although I would still leave the pulls there too.

Just my 2¢, whatever that is worth.

Took your's and Uncle Bob's advice and made a clear cover for the Arbotix. Got back to working on this again. Did some light machining to the battery mount in the chest area, dyed the brackets black (much kudos to Tyberius for his excellent tutorial!), running on battery power
now (11.1 3s Tenergy 2600 mAh), and Xbee mounted and configured! Completely untethered!







What's next???
I would like to get some fists 3D printed!
The AX-1S head is temporary, till I find something better.
Started building a DIY Arduino controller out of an old helicopter radio.
