    Sneak Peak: InterbotiX PhantomX Hexapod

We've been a tad quiet these last few months, but we're getting ready to unveil what we've been up to! Here is a sneak peak at the InterbotiX PhantomX Hexapod, powered by Vanadium Labs! This crawler will feature AX-12+ Dynamixels, LiPo Batteries, a durable ABS frame, and the super-powerful ArbotiX Robocontroller w/ Xbee Wireless onboard! It runs a fully open source IK engine developed by Vanadium Labs, and has tons of I/O available for additional sensors. Stay tuned for this kit, as well as the AX-18F PhantomX variant, the RX-24F/RX-28 powered WidowX Hexapod, and the RX-64 powered ScorpionX Hexapod in the very near future! Also- Quadrupeds!

Finished up the final prototype today before we move into production on these!

Some extended footage of the final prototype running around.

Looking at that video, I wonder if the gate could be modified to make it into holonomic vehicle, I mean walker.
For those wondering if there's such thing as "holonomic walker", Google search returned 26 (!) results.

The gait engine is already holonomic. Forward speed (X), strafing speed (Y), and angular rotation about Z speeds are all set separately. The reason you don't really see it in the video is because the default sketch using the Commander switches between strafing/rotation based on a switch.

That's looking pretty good. Do you already have any estimates of the payload a RX-64 hexapod could carry?

Hard to say. The AX-12+ hexapod has a maximum payload of about 2kg. Figure the RX-64s are about 4x the torque, but will also require a larger, heavier chassis. If I had to take a guess I'd put it at 5kg.
