That looks like a monster :-)
What poor lawn tractor had to donate its heart like that?
Sounds like a good deal!
Is that an attempt to add electric start to the little 160~200cc Honda GCV? Or did you lose yet another wheel due to shaft shearing apart?
I'm kinda wondering what would be necessary to better silence the exhaust of a GCV engine. I still have not built an electric alternative to my >12 year old Honda/Craftsman lawnmower, and it has always been annoyingly loud even with earplugs.
Please pardon the pedantry... and the profanity... and the convoluted speech pattern...

a few years ago I went to 1" shafts, and 1" ID hubs, I have not had any 1" shaft failures yet.(sweet)
I've tried a few things(enclose the engine, add mufflers and used high temp insolation) but, was stillI'm kinda wondering what would be necessary to better silence the exhaust of a GCV engine.
too noisy for me. I hope to have a fix by next winter.
last spring a made a e-bike, then I made a few 24v lipo battery packs, I may look at lipo packs for the mule.
the kickstand was electric(linear actuator)
and backup camera display on the handlebars
motor on both wheels, front motor geared for hill climbing, back motor geared to street(25mph).
used freewheel sprockets on both so could switch back and forth on the fly.
very fun to ride and could even do some work.
