Thread: Structure to make within weight constraints.

  1. Structure to make within weight constraints.

    Peace and blessings to everyone!
I needed some advice, regarding the mechanical structure of base of a robot. I have to make a 20x20 cm base with a weight limitation of 5kgs including 2 batteries, 4 tyres/wheels, and two motors.
I have been planning to make a 3x3 aluminum grid base with an acrylic glass sheet on top. Will it be able to bear a weight of 5-6 kgs on top?

    regards.

Hmm. I'm having trouble visualizing the aluminum grid base...

    You mean something like this:

The bill of materials seems pretty cheap so you might want to run some bench tests, but thick acrylic glass is very sturdy so I would think it would hold that weight no problem.

thats more detailed..and most probably more durable(the one in the link you posted)
What i meant by a grid is a simple square (like in tic tac toe game) 3x3 grid structure.. LIke this one below..

HERE IS THE FLOOR PLAN FOR WHICH I HAVE TO DESIGN THE BASE.
