Two things...First off, when are you guys going to come out with a kit of some sort? I thought krunk would be it...In the least you could market them as really well proven research platforms...Second...When are you going to teach me how to make really cool walking gates? Your robots are always so fast! :-) .
Looking badass as usual!
Thanks! We did discuss releasing the krunk model as kits, but we never got around to it - the biggest issue I think is that our software is quite complicated for the average user, and it is a very large investment to whip up kits for these bots. We may still make them though - I've been working on some computer side software (GUI stuff with n-degree inverse kinematics) that could aid highly in motion development for any robot system. Rob and I will have to revisit making them into kits![]()
When would you like to sit down and go over some gait generation stuff? What would help you the most? I could take a 720p video at 60fps walking and slow it down so you could see all the steps he takes if you'd like.
I saw this video when you guys first released it, that little bot is pretty wicked... The skill of the pilot of that bot is impressive!
some hi-def videos would be cool, it'll probably help some of the guys out there trying to understand bipedal gaiting...

Thanks for the complements! Bipedal gaiting is definitely a tricky thing - I'm not sure how much this will help, but I've taken a quick side view and slowed it down several times over this video:
This gait is very simple, but ZynNaut (KaiNauts brother) took second place at RoboGames for the 2m dash (beaten only by King Kizer himself) using this exact gait. ZynNaut ran the 2m in 4.4 seconds (which comes out to about 1.02mph). We are also able to steer this walk around - which helps with running straight lines in the dash![]()
Seeing these guys in person was really impressive...Much more impressive than a video can get across.
What actuators is this bot using? Is it the -28 series of Robotis actuators? I've been eyeing the -28s, -64, and the 106+(I think I need to take a loan to build a bot out of the 106+).

It uses the Robotis EX-106+s through the legs and shoulders, then RX-28s through the arms and a single DX-117 for the head.
