Cheap Mech Arena for Qual and testing

The RTEAM Robotics club here in Tucson built up a pint size area for about $30 (full size will be about $60) so we can test RA and start holding practice matches as we get more Mechs built. We just thought we would share how easy it was to get the cheap 3/4" pvc at Home depot, scrap cardboard and zip ties. Don't forget your safety glasses...

Neat! Some cardboard boxes for "houses" and the illusion is complete :-)
What's the lowest-cost (functional) robot you've built to compete in that arena?

    Nice work

You guys should make a thread about/documenting Ra, so we know a bit more about the bot.

I don't suppose anyone has tiled, printable building sides to put on cardboard. Sort of like a texture/skin for looks on a cardboard box?

grenadapult, I reckon you might find such textures in whatever community of people still plays SimCity and makes custom buildings. I remember doing such a decade ago xD

Wow, I never knew that existed! I'll check it out. I just remember a few years ago, when people were using "Pepakura" to make paper models of Mech warrior 3 battle mechs. There were lots of custom skins and such available for those, so I figured someone would have buildings.

    Thanks!

There are tons of building textures to be had from the 3D game production community. You can download free 3D building models from places like TurboSquid, and the models usually come with texture images you can print.
