Question ROS stack for a hobby level robot

I am using rosserial to control all my sensors and motors from with an arduino. now, i would like to make a ros stack for my simple bot.

anyone has similar experience doing that? all i have are two motors, a compass, and a sharp distance sensor. i would like to be able to program simple behaivors with that. is there a beginners stack, or a helloworld like hellorobot stack?

    Best Regards,
