Thread: USB2AX v3.1

  1. Re: USB2AX v3.1

A admit it, my reasoning on power consumption was that it did not matter even when in a battery powered bot (like mine) compared to the consumption of the servos, the computer and whatnot... Add the fact that it's already not that easy to find a nice double LED in a small package, and you have the reasons that led me to this choice.
I'm not sure that for this project I'll bother making it super-efficient, but that's definitly something I'll keep in mind for the next one

    Hey guys,

I can finally say that I have a decent documentation for the USB2AX. You can find it at Xevelabs.com (or usb2ax.com too ).
EDIT: These address might be temporarily down until the DNS updates. If so, access it there.

There are two pages that still need some major work : the one on firmware update and customization, and also I would like to make a guide to achieving reasonably low latency.

Any feedback and help, mostly on the advanced topics, is very welcome

Questions to the people who have an USB2AX (please answer here or by MP): do you have projects where you use it that I could link on the product page? I already have Xachi and Charlotte (I hope it's ok Kevin?).

    That's totally fine Xevel.

Great! I have browsed it but too much superficially. I think that is somewhat unclear in the powering servos that you can use the controller (CM-5 and CM-510 at least, probably CM-530 too) ONLY to power the servos with the battery.

I will use the USBAX with HexaWheels, if you want you can add it to the project list. Two videos of its first steps and scanning tests:

You know you can use a smps2dynamixel or the new trossen ax/mx hub to power them. The cm-xxx controlers are rather big to just be powering the servos.

Indeed, good catch, I completely forgot about that possibility. I have updated the doc about powering the servos.
EDIT: I also added the AX/MX power hub, that's an even more interesting solution. How could I miss that?

    And thanks for the project!

AX/MX power hub looks great. I saw it at Facebook, asking for more information about it, thanks!

You missed it because they just added it to the shop today or yesterday (although they did sort of announce it a little while ago).

    Also, MX-28 gearsets! yay!

EDIT: and they come with replacement bearings (already mounted?). HAPPY, HAPPY, JOY, JOY!!!

Are these available yet at Trossen, or if we want one do we need to order from Seeeduino or elsewhere?

  10. Re: USB2AX v3.1

Not yet, but they will most probably be. No ETA yet though.
