Thread: How to make a MW worthy mech. (Help)

  1. Re: How to make a MW worthy mech. (Help)

Thanks for showing me that. Now I would like to know should I buy a barebones kit for the legs and use that board or should I buy the legs with all the servos and micro board pre attached, because I see that the PhantomX quad and it comes with an Artibox robo controller and a command controller with Xbee.

If you buy the ready kit, it will save you grief and get you running sooner.

Yeah I was thinking that I would get it pre-prepped, unless it didn't come with an Arbotix controller because they appear to look the most reliable.

The way I'm going with M-O has me spending under $200 on him so far, but I don't recommend it due to there not being any ready made walking solutions for feedback-less hobby servos running on an Arduino. The hiearchy of my control system/video system is:

    WiFi dongle

    |
    RasPi---------Webcam
    |
    |
    Arduino
    |
    |
    Servos

Yeah I would rather take something out of the box and play with it ,learn, build, and then fine tune.

With the camera, though, the Raspberry Pi with a wifidongle is a good idea. My bot will only need the smaller space needed to hold a webcam inside its turret because of the wireless equipment (RasPi) being in the main body. You can find webcams that work with the RasPi that are very small(1.5 in. in diameter).
