The bot labeled "almost done" is my version of the tri-track offered by LM. The track side plates are cnc 6061 with laser cut inlays of blue acrylic. The motors are 32mm planetary units. The bot has the text to speech board and speaks various phrases depending on how close an object gets to the Ping sensor mounted in the head. There are three Pololu motor controllers mounted along with a Lipo in the back control box. Two operate the tracks and the third operate the column motor to raise and lower the head. The head is mechanically linked to the drive base so it always stays orientated parallel to the ground (he looks straight ahead when the head raises or lowers).
The bot is actually complete as you see it in the picture.

Thank you for those last views. The metal and acrylic combinations are beautifully designed and executed. Also it gives us s view of the bot on the left, and it is honkin' huge!

Beautiful metalwork there. I can't wait to see what you'll do with those track-sets.

I'm assuming that is an arm in the middle picture, though I suppose it could be a tail (the background music for that idea, "Aluminum Dog" brought to you by Tom Smith).

Lol, I didn't even notice the gripper hadn't been installed yet in that picture. It does kinda look like a tail.

    Thanks for that laugh!

I ran a few sets on the cnc. Some were sold on ebay and others are still waiting for a future project.
