There were a few reasons why I went with 1.5.x and now 1.6, which include, there were some nice improvements in things like the Serial class, which made it possible for the Arbotix to use the Serial1 class to do the communications, which really was the main reason why the earlier Arbotix setups duplicated the complete Arduino hardware folder...

Also some side points, like there have been a few enhancements to the IDE, like finally the ability to go to a line (ctrl-l)...

Plus with Board manager you can install hardware packages for the Intel Edison or Galileo, so again I don't need to keep multiple versions of the IDEs...

The funny thing is, the day after these last messages, Arduino.cc just came out with version 1.8.0

Arduino.org and Arduino.cc are working with each other again.

Just downloaded it and new beta teensyduino for it, hopefully it all still works

    Lol 1.8.0

If I wasn't so tired from updating arm manipulation packages all night I might have a look. It sure is some kind of challenge to keep up with all these interests isn't it?

    Yep

I would probably not have noticed, but Paul of PJRC did and he makes changes to the IDE to properly support Teensy, so when a new Arduino release is released, he has to build a new version... So beta 1 came out this morning. I have tried it on PC, Mac and Linux (ARM) on Odroid.

For the fun of it, I am now reworking the Teensy version of the Wire library to support Wire1 on most of the Teensy boards, plus Wire2 on T3.5 and T3.6 and Wire3 on T3.6.

Plus playing around with Up board (different subject)...

Then back to well monitor setup and Robots...

But in the mean time hope everyone is having a great Holiday season!
