It was quick-and-dirty protection of the OKI-78SR-5 from the dxl connector (not likely to be pulling the full 7.5W output for transponder and target panels) and partly to verify the footprint of the diode for a bootstrap half-bridge driver board. Depends on how well the 'breakout' populated versions of the PCB work as to whether I will even try any DXL stuff with this PCB revision.
