I posted a few months ago asking for help with this. I got it to work a few months ago after a lot of toying around, it's been gathering dust, but I thought you would like to see it in action.
I initially got it to work with the supplied code for the arbotix-m board, unfortunately it ran rather slowly, I believe it was 30Hz, not fast enough for the data being sent from the Leap Motion. I coded everything up myself for use with the USB dynamixel, the improvements were great, see below:
