    Re: ArbotiX 1.6 Files / Libraries

    KurtEck,

    Thanks for the heads up. I gave turning off livesafe, to no avail. I haven't gotten to dig much deeper yet, and probably will now. I am relatively sure it is the programmer that is the problem. I will dig deeper in a little bit following the link you posted...Have some things to take care of around the house first.

    I have ordered an FTDI cable in the meantime, and will try working from fresh on my old computer to see if maybe it is something in the way this new machine does things...though the old computer has been reinstalled several times since the last time I did any of this.

    One thing, is there someplace I should look that would give me more information as to what might be going wrong? I feel like the fact that if I just verify and compile things work means that I am close, and whatever is wrong is with the part that actually gets the program out into the board.

    Thanks again for the help, Any further help would be appreciated. I feel like I was on a path and stepped in mud, and just need someone to pull me free so that I can keep going.

    Re: ArbotiX 1.6 Files / Libraries

    Hi again, if you used the tician boards install and you have the programmer that Trossens sells, than his setup did not add in the definition for the that programmer. Problem is if you used to use that to program the arbotix than it is very likely it does not have the bootloader any more.

    I edited my configuration to add it in. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I keep meaning to make my own install with this in it.
    But if you go to where your programmer.txt file is, probably at: C:\Users\Che Edoga\AppData\Local\Arduino15\packages\arbotix\har dware\avr\0.0.2\hardware

    And update the programmer.txt to:
    Code:
    avrispmkiis.name=AVRISP mkII (serial)
    avrispmkiis.communication=serial
    avrispmkiis.protocol=stk500v2

    I added in the part at the start (serial). That after you restart Arduino IDE you should be able to choose in the Tools->Programmer menu

    Re: ArbotiX 1.6 Files / Libraries

    I am infact using the little usb programmer that trossen sells...or sold years ago, maybe still? In anycase, under tools -> programmer AVRISP mkII is selected, but (serial) is not an option or is not available.

    I updated the programmer.txt file, or at least think I did...

    At this point I have probably made enough of a mess of things that I just need to start over and carefully follow the advice above?

    Re: ArbotiX 1.6 Files / Libraries

    Ok...I found a programmer.txt file under an arduino folder in the hardware folder. I edited that one also and the AVRISP mkII (Serial) option appeared. I tried selecting it and uploading and got the following error...

    Arduino: 1.6.13 (Windows 10), Board: "Arbotix-M"

    c:\program files (x86)\arduino-1.6.13\hardware\tools\avr\bin\../lib/gcc/avr/4.9.2/../../../../avr/bin/ar.exe: unable to rename 'core\core.a'; reason: File exists

    This report would have more information with
    "Show verbose output during compilation"
    option enabled in File -> Preferences.

    Thanks for continuing to help.

    Re: ArbotiX 1.6 Files / Libraries

    OK...success! The last bit was that I had the programmer plugged in backwards. :-( Thank you all so much! Now to run pypose and get this thing moving around!
