Thread: I cannot receive answere from MX-64T but they are able to move

  1. Question I cannot receive answere from MX-64T but they are able to move

I have 25 Dynamixel servos (mx-28T, 64T, 106T) in my self-designed robot. Today I realized that there are 8 servos which are not able to seen in RoboPlus and not able to answer to my request (like what is the current position of the motor) but they can move (I can set the goal position). I do not understand what is happening. Can you help me? What should I do?

I've had the same thing happen to a few of mine. They move correctly but wouldn't respond to position queries or anything for that matter.
After talking to Trossen and Robotis they both confirmed there was an internal failure and I had to send them in for service repair.

Thank you for your quick answer.
My servos are more than 2 years old, I am afraid they will not help for me because there is no warranty for them anymore. :/
Nevertheless, I've written an email for Trossen Robotics.

Note that Robotis can still service servos, for a fee. Replacing the PCB in a servo is much cheaper than buying a new servo.

Separately, try isolating those servos so they are alone, and see if they work. If one of the servos works, alone, try adding more of the servos that always work, and see how many are needed before it stops working, which may give you a clue as to what the problem might be.
