@jwatte, The top camera is an Omron HVC-P2 Human vision Sub-system it incorporates 10 algorithms of the OKAO(TM) Vision Image Sensing Technology these are:- 1) Face Detection, 2) Human Body Detection, 3) Gender Estimation, 4) Age Estimation, 5) Gaze Estimation, 6) Facial Pose Estimation, 7) Face Recognition, 8) Expression Estimation (satisfied, unsatisfied, five different expressions: happiness, surprise, anger, sadness and neutral), 9) Hand Detection, 10) Blink Estimation. The P2 sends real time data to a PIC in the head which then stabilizes the vision data by the use of median filters - The PIC then decides if the latest scan data has anything new and if so packets it all up for a single send to the robots master controller.
The thermal imager is a 9 pixel thermopile, the long range IR ranger is a Sharp GP2Y0A02YKOF
The sound localization system has a custom PIC that enables sound to be located with an accuracy of 3 degrees.
The eyes are 8x8 LED matrix which are diffused - the EZ:1 has 32 eye animations. The eyes, eye rims, cheeks and mouth animations are all controlled by an emotion PIC which is a slave to the heads master PIC controller. Thanks for your encouraging words.
