For the benefit of any other lost soul like myself.
I found the issue: FTDI cable was reversed.
Thanks to the board for your tolerance and support.
I'm on step 6: Program the ArbotiX-M Robocontroller to Control a DYNAMIXEL Servo
It is directing me to connect the ArbotiX-M board to and external power supply. I don't have a 12v power adapter available, but I do have a freshly charged 11.1v 35c 5000mah battery connected. Wny can't I use this?
Hello everybody,
I had the same problem and I solved in this way, in order to use the IDE 1.8.1 besides updating the hardware folder at 0.0.2
I found and followed this guide on trossen website: http://learn.trossenrobotics.com/pro...6-x-setup.html

Hi Minimalfra,
Yes Kyle Grant was making a version of my stuff that ran at the time on the Arduino 1.6.x releases. His last update to that branch was 11 months ago. The 1.8.x releases of Arduino are also still compatible. Most of the work I did on this was done back in 2015.
As you may have noticed, the release was marked as Beta.
I believe that Kyle is no longer with Trossen and I am not sure who if anyone is tasked with finalizing this.
Currently everyone is tasked with other things. What Kyle was testing for 1.6.x is the best documented solution from Trossen.
I've been using Arduino 1.8.whatever and tician's board definition on a few projects using the Arbotix-M and it's super convenient.
