Difficulty: Evaluating the parts needed from looking at a picture.
Estimated Time: 2 hours now ,, but i spend 100 hours getting there!
Skills Required: Basic Lego Technic rules of contruction.
Programming in NXT-G (a Labview Icon based software).
Bluetooth connection to upload program to robot.
Creativity.
Parts Required: Parts come from a variety of Lego sets, atho one could purchase just what is needed i have no time to draw you a grocery list of parts.. so here are the basic kit and extra parts needed to make a wall-e.

1 Lego Mindstorm NXT RETAIL KIT #8527
1 LEGO Power Function Bulldozer Sett #8725
+
1 yellow wormgear box
1 gearbox 3 x 3 x 1 2/3 (90 degree)
100 small chain links
1 large technic turntable
1 HiTechnic IR link sensor
and if you want the added emotion eye
1 Mindsensors NXTservo module & mini RC servo
Tools Required: NONE unless you count fingers and eyes.
Keep in mind these video where posted for fun at first to give idea to kids and other builders,, i'm not always serious and i'm not always very professional - i miss some proper terms and my filming is often shaky -- but i had lots of fun and that was the primary goal!

Start with my first prototype movie
Then Look at my picture on Picasaweb
http://picasaweb.google.com/freshmarc/WallENXT#

Then watch how i accidentally destroy wall-e and rebuild it in front of you
Maybe watch the emotion eyes prototype video
Then watch my Explaining how i made wall-e 'pure'
Then look at the picture again
Finaly ... come up with an even cooler wall-e ,,, and don,t forget to mention you got inspired by me and SHOW ME YOU WALL_E

(currently Wall-E's twin is being built by my friend Daniel W. in the Netherland just on time to be present at Lego World 2008 he managed to replicate him using the above info i hope you will to)

ONCE YOU HAVE FINISHED BUILDING WALL-E please contact me so that i can share my NXT-G program with you or assist you in creating your own. I have not posted the files here as i'm still futzing around with my program to make Wall-E more interesting and interactive when ran in unattended mode for trade shows.
